The Broads Outdoors Festival is championed by Broads Tourism - formed to provide one voice for the many different businesses that make up the Broads tourism industry. The organisation was created to market the Broads as one of the UK's leading destinations and has been instrumental in branding the Broads as ‘Britain's Magical Waterland'.
The Broads is now marketed successfully as a visitor destination by Broads Tourism through its excellent brochure and website www.enjoythebroads.com as well as a number of high profile campaigns. We're proud to be working with VisitEngland on a major active outdoors promotion for 2013.
The Broads Authority
The Broads Authority is a statutory body and its general duty is to manage the Broads for the purposes of:
(a) conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Broads;
(b) promoting opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the Broads by the public; and
(c) protecting the interests of navigation.
It must also consider the needs of agriculture and forestry, and the economic and social interests of those who live or work in the Broads.
One of the central responsibilities of the Broads Authority is to promote public enjoyment of the Broads. With more than 7 million visitors a year, tourism needs sensitive management to protect the area and the quality of the experience for all. It works closely with Broads Tourism to achieve this.
The Broads Authority promotes 'quiet enjoyment' and sustainable tourism: recreation that does no lasting damage to the Broads environment, or to other people's enjoyment of it. www.broads-authority.gov.uk
